Help with Pages

How do I create a new page?

To create a new page you need to click on the Pages link at the top of your admin.

You can then click the button that says new page.

This will bring up a field that you can enter the title of your new page.

Once you’ve entered the title, click the + button and your new page will be created.

What are sub-pages?

NOTE: This has changed as of August 2010. Sub pages now drop down on the menu.
In your designs you have the ability to create sub-pages which are the same thing as normal pages except that they will not show up in the main navigation for your site. For example if I were to create a page called About and then under that page I created two sub-pages called Company and Info, the Company and Info pages would not show up in the main navigation. They would only be accessible when the user had clicked on the About page.

How do I create a new sub-page?

Before you can create new sub-pages you will need to make sure you have first created at least one normal page. Next, find whichever page you want to create sub-pages for and click the new sub page button.

A new field will appear and you can enter the title of your new sub-page into this field.

Click the + button once you are done and a new sub-page will have been created.

Can I add links in pages?

Yes, you can add links in pages just as you would if you had an HTML site. You can just copy and paste the code below to get started:

<a href="#">Put the text for the link here</a>

You will need to replace the # sign with url of the link (e.g. http://www.aphotofolio.com) and replace the “Put the text for the link here” with whatever text you want to be linked.

To have a link open the site in a new window use this code:

<a href="#" target="_blank">Put the text for the link here</a>

Can I format the text on my page?

Yes, you can use the below ‘tags’ to change the formatting of the text on your page:

<b> Bold </b>

<i> Italic </i>

<u> Underline </u>

<li> Bulleted List-item </li>

<font color="#FF8800"> Font Color </font>

<br /> Line break

NEW: <font size=”27″> Font Size </font> [Set your page font size to 0 in the template setting to activate this feature (you will have to specify the font size for each piece of text).]

How Can I Make an Email Address Linked, so it Opens an Email to Send?

Use the following bit of code:

<a href="mailto:#">email address</a>

You will need to replace the # sign with the email address you want linked (e.g. rob@aphotofolio.com) and replace the “email address” with whatever text you want to be linked.

How can I make a page redirect externally or internally?

REDIRECT:http://domain.com (opens the link in a new window)
new:http://domain.com (opens the link in a new window)

self:http://domain.com (opens the link in the same window)
same:http://domain.com (opens the link in the same window)

Put them as the only text on a page.

For the gallery redirects you can use these commands as well or simply enter the url to have it open in another page.

How can I put spaces between the galleries and pages or in between the pages?

Insert blank pages above to put space between the galleries and pages and insert blank pages between any page to create a space on the menu.

Gives you this:

Contact Form or Contact Page?

The contact form is turned on when you first get the site but it is purely optional. In fact it is not really needed at all. An email at the bottom of your site or even on a page called contact will do the trick. Contact forms are primarily for people who don’t want their email shared but this is never recommended anymore.

NOTE: If you want to make a page called contact make sure the contact form is named differently in the site settings so there’s no conflict.
